7. Pooja R
Favorite quote: “You teach a child to read, and he or her will be able to pass a literacy test.”
-George.W.Bush :-)
I’m running because I can’t imagine my life without being able to read and write. I’m running because I think it’s unfair that education is a luxury that millions in India cannot afford. And I want to know if I can handle a 10k run!
8. Ravi

10. Prabhu
An Astrophysicist who believes BIG things can be achieved no matter how small the beginnings.
My doctor declared that I had no option but to get onto medications to control my cholesterol levels.
I refused to accept that 'fate' as it is. I started running (since December '09) and kept moving my target up. From a mere quarter Km to 7.5 Kms at a stretch. To date I am fit as a fiddle. Till now I was running for myself ....well, If my running helps others...Why not?
11. Pramod Bafna

Is running because he believes that education should be everyone's privilege in a country with great minds such as ours. Is running because he can, and because his pinkie toe told him to.
12. Vasudha Khanapur Tavag
Favourite line:”Apne liye jiye to kya jiye.... tu jee ey dil zamane ke liye...." I believe each of us should and can give back to society, in whatever way possible, however small, it makes a difference. After all don't we all know “Little drops of water........." or ”Boond boond se banta saagar". I am running to do my bit to help promote the importance of education.  Education leads to awareness and ultimately to change in anything we want..... environment, civic sense, discipline, good governance, up rooting social evils and what have you. I am running because running is an easy way to keep in good health. I am running because I care for Bangalore.
13. Jagdish Damania
My hope that every child in India has access to education regardless of their economic situation, got me associated with India Literacy Project- California in Oct 1996 as a volunteer.  It has been an enriching experience and the passion of volunteers in ILP has kept me bound to them.  I volunteered for various fund raising activities of ILP in California. And when I returned to Bangalore in 1999, I continued with the ILP India- Bangalore chapter which was just starting off.
In Dec 2007, I decided to convert my newly found passion for running into a fundraising event for ILP. I ran my first ultra of 26 Km and because of the faith placed in me by you, I managed to raise funds to support 50 children in the scholarship program
This year two students from ILP's scholarship program came out in flying colors in their 10th standard board exam, one scored 96.16% and the other 92%. Both children have achieved these feats despite hardships and difficulties life has put them through.
14. Rishi
Myself ‘ark’ (arun rishi kapoor) ... I'm a person full of beans ...I like experimenting with new ideas... Apart from the literacy cause, another reason for me running is my ‘Poetry’... I'm sure I'll get some new lines for my coming poems...
15. Varsha Masilamani
I'm running because I like to make a difference in my own way.
I'm running to get a reality check of my stamina. :)
I'm running because I think it'll be a great opportunity to meet like minded people who take time out of their busy lives to change things that don’t concern them directly and I think that’s awesome.
16. Jayanth
This is Jayanth (Jay) working in Goldman Sachs, and actively volunteering for a few NGO's.
I also do rock climbing and like playing football. I am running this marathon for all the kids out there who are deprived of basic education. As the reward for running this marathon is priceless, this is where we build new relationships, a feeling of tremendous accomplishment in helping others, the thrill of crossing the finish line, and the new attitude towards running (and life) will be changed forever. Let’s make this place a "little" better...
Signing off with a Quote:
