Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we have received a high number of car/auto donations in the last few weeks of the year. This increased volume of donations has led to longer than normal response time from our partner (carprogram.com). Please see answers to FAQ's below for more details about your donation.
- How soon will I be contacted?
Typically, 4 business days.
- Why have I not been contacted yet regarding my car donation?
At this time of the year, the volume of cars donated is very high and has led to a longer cycletime to clear the backlog.
In the meantime, we are working with our partners to send acknowledgements to all donors whose donation forms have been received.
- What amount will the organization get?
ILP gets 100% of net proceeds after administrative costs for towing, auction expense etc... The admin costs vary depending on the condition of the car and other similar factors but are typically a small %age of the total. All proceeds are sent to fund literacy projects in India.
- Is the tax deduction going to apply if I send in the form now?
Yes, if your form is received by Dec. 31st, 2004.
End-Of-Year-Tax Note: If we are able to accept your donation, all gifts pledged on or before December 31 will be considered a 2004 donation. Meaning, you will receive a 2004 donation receipt for your tax purposes even if we have to schedule to pick-up your donation in January. We look forward to hearing from you before the tax year ends!
