•  The target area encompasses 8 villages where migration of people causes dropouts and child labor

Project Description

This project aims to promote education in community through people’s participation and to strengthen parentteachers association for better functioning of schools. In the three villages of Periasamipuram,Kunjaiyapuram and Muthaiyapuram the literacy rates are very low. By running additional coaching classes, summer camps , providing para teachers in government schools, the program aims to prevent drop outs and retain children in school. Through this project Vidiyel Trust has formed free coaching centers for the children in the rural areas. In addition a Balwadi is being run to provide care for children of rural working women.

Accomplishments

•  Covered 290 children in 10 children’s activity centers and covers 28 children under the balwadi program
•  Placed 1 para-teacher in a government high school
•  Initiated self help groups in 8 villages
