Project Description

This project aims to explore relevance of the current education system and to develop, test and propagate a trainer’s module on ‘value education’ and ‘teaching methodologies’.
SIDH has run pre-primary and primary schools, courses for youth and adults, conducted research on qualitative aspects (for instance an analysis of textbooks of 4 different boards), produced guide books/supplementary material for teachers, organized national level workshops/seminars on understanding education / development and regularly contributed to education committees set up by the State Education Department and NCERT.

Project Roadmap

•  To develop trainer's module on 'Value Education' and 'Teaching Methodologies'
•  To conduct teachers trainings for testing and finalization of modules
•  To train master trainers in using these modules
•  Conducting orientation workshop for orienting key agencies/organizations working in the field of education

Accomplishments

•  Successfully experimented with Bodhshala imparting education to mountain dwelling tribes and enrolling them to government schools
•  Developed a module on value-education to train teachers. Working on bringing the module into mainstream teachers’ training course
•  Identified resource groups and schools to field test the module and take the innovations into mainstream schools
