Under the Child Friendly Library programme supported by ILP, schools came together to rekindle something simple yet powerful: the joy of reading. Because when children discover books early, they donโ€™t just learn new words โ€” they learn to dream, to wonder, and to see the world with bigger eyes.

Classrooms buzzed with energy as students wrote essays, read stories aloud, quizzed each other, acted out tales, and even played Kannada-to-English translation games. Every activity opened a small window into a world they might not have explored yet.

At one school, the library in charge brought the library alive with โ€˜Best Readerโ€™ and โ€˜Best Storytellerโ€™ contests, making every child feel seen and celebrated. In another school teachers took complete ownership, running Library Day with enthusiasm that showed how deeply they value reading. And when Block Education Officer visited a school, it reinforced what everyone already felt โ€” that a library is not just a room full of books, but the heart of a school.

Library Day didnโ€™t end when the events wrapped up. It left behind something lasting: children walking into libraries with a little more excitement, teachers seeing new possibilities, and schools nurturing a culture where reading isnโ€™t a task โ€” itโ€™s a habit, a companion, a doorway to possibility.
