On 29th August, the birth anniversary of hockey wizard Major Dhyan Chand—celebrated nationwide as National Sports Day—the *Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Singapura and G. Sigadam, came alive with the spirit of sportsmanship and energy with the help from our NGO partner YCB Balavikas.

The day was more than a tribute; it was a reminder that habits of fitness built in childhood shape not only strong sports people, but also strong citizens and leaders for tomorrow. Students competed with passion across a variety of games, showing that determination and discipline are as vital as skill.

A total of 108 prizes for winners and 214 for runners-up reflected the wide participation and spirited involvement of the students. Motivational talks on physical fitness further encouraged them to see sports not just as play, but as a lifelong path to health and confidence.

*Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya are residential schools established under a Government of India initiative to provide quality education to girls from disadvantaged communities in educationally backward blocks, now integrated under the Samagra Shiksha program.
