A good education ensures a solid foundation for a better future.

And the foundation has to be strong right from a very young age. This is where India literacy project has joined hands with like-minded partner https://ircds.in/ to ensure learning at foundational stage is on a strong footing.

India literacy project in collaboration with https://ircds.in/ organized a training program for 20 Anganwadi teachers in Tiruvallur block, Tamil Nādu in preparing Teaching Learning Material (TLM). This training was unique as it involved the Anganwadi teachers themselves in building the training materials.

Highlight of this training material was the usage of local and natural materials to ensure the cost is kept low. The training material covered:

  • How the first 1000 days of a kid should be shaped
  • Activities to improve cognitive and motor development of children
  • Nutritional aspects for both child and mother
  • Parenting practices involving both parents, relatives, & the community
  • Immunization practices

The entire training has been shaped by integrating it with Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) which takes into account education, health and various other government departments.
