𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟭𝟮 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗯𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 International Labour Organization 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗔𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗿, raising awareness about the urgent need to eliminate child labour in all its forms. The 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲, “𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗿: 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻, 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀,“ calls for collective action to ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿’𝘀 𝗼𝗯𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Investing in free, inclusive, and well-resourced public education systems that keep children in classrooms and out of hazardous work environments.

Quality education is one of the strongest safeguards against child labour. It is more than access to schooling; it is about ensuring that children remain engaged, experience the joy of learning, and can envision pathways to a brighter future.

When education is relevant, inclusive, and supported by families and communities, children are more likely to stay in school and less likely to be vulnerable to child labour.

At ILP, we work to address these challenges across a child’s educational journey. Beginning with Anganwadis, we support school readiness and foundational literacy and numeracy, ensuring children start their learning journey on a strong footing.

In government schools, we make learning more engaging and meaningful through science kits, digital learning initiatives, ICT-enabled classrooms, and smart classroom interventions that spark curiosity and strengthen learning outcomes. As students’ progress, career guidance programmes help them understand their strengths, explore opportunities, and connect education with productive futures.

We also recognise that lasting change begins at home. Through community involvement, parent counselling, awareness initiatives, and efforts to strengthen parental participation, we help families understand the value of education and the opportunities it can unlock, fostering choices that keep children learning, growing, and aspiring towards brighter futures. As a result, children are more likely to remain in classrooms and less likely to be vulnerable to child labour.

This World Day Against Child Labour, let us reaffirm our commitment to strengthening public education systems that nurture potential at every stage of a child’s journey. Because every child deserves the opportunity to learn, dream, and build a future of choice, not circumstance.
