Volunteer Spotlight: Sunayana Ravula by Suyash Nigam

Sunayana Ravula has been an indispensable volunteer for India Literacy Project (ILP) since 2007! Can’t thank her enough for the countless hours of service she has contributed towards ILP’s worthy causes.

She was first roped into volunteering by her college senior, Subhash, when she moved to the Bay Area in 2007. The call to participate in a music night hosted by ILP, combined with her passion for making a difference, made her take the first step towards becoming a long-standing volunteer.

Initially, Sunayana started as an event volunteer, raising awareness for ILP’s mission. She soon leveraged her Tableau skills for data analytics. Working with ILP India, she analyzed the effectiveness of the Vidya Saathi  program in improving student performance. Her insights, visualized in shareable dashboards, have been crucial for ILP’s data-driven approach.

Sunayana’s work didn’t stop at data analysis. Over the years, she has been involved in various projects, such as the Science Kits, Career Guidance and our partner NGO projects. These initiatives aim at enhancing the direct impact on the field, scaling up operations and strengthening ILP’s partnerships with the government.

Sunayana fondly remembers the impactful Vidya Saathi program, especially its success during the Covid-19 pandemic. For her, the heartwarming tales of children prospering spark her passion for volunteering. The camaraderie and encouragement from veteran volunteers at ILP, like Subhash, Padmaja, and Venky, have fueled her dedication. Sunayana treasures her ILP family and believes joining them was a golden decision. Yet, with all her contributions, she humbly urges others to hop on board and make a difference!

Sunayana’s journey with ILP goes beyond personal fulfillment. It is a testament to the power of volunteering and the impact one individual can make. As she continues her work, she stands as an inspiration for anyone looking to make a difference through social work.
